Sold Horses and Slept

(Transliteration: Ghode baechkar sona.)

Literal translation: Sell off the horses and sleep.

Figurative meaning: To sleep without a care. Sleep without any feelings of guilt (of not completing a given assignment).

Usage in a sample sentence:

आज सुबह घर से निकली तो मैंने पिताजी को एक छोटा काम दिया था, कुत्ते को खिलाने का, लेकिन जब मैं शाम को लौटी तो कुत्ता भूख से तड़प रहा था और पिताजी घोड़े बेचकर सो रहे थे।

(Transliteration: Aaj subah ghar se nikli toh maine pitaji ko ek chota kaam diya tha, kutte ko khilane ka, lekin jab mai sham ko lauti toh kutta bhook se tadap raha tha aur pitaji ghode bechkar so rahe thhe.)

Translation: When I left home this morning I had given dad a small task, that of feeding the dog; but when I returned in the evening I found the dog howling with hunger and dad sleeping soundly without a care.
